What is hotel content mapping?
Hotel content mapping is the process of matching the same property, room type and rate across different suppliers so a platform shows one hotel instead of many duplicates.
A hotel sold by several bedbanks and direct connections will arrive with different IDs, names, addresses and room descriptions. Mapping links them to a single master record.
Levels of mapping
Property mapping matches hotels using names, geographic coordinates, addresses and identifiers. Room mapping matches room types across suppliers, which is harder because naming is inconsistent. Rate mapping groups comparable offers — board basis, refundability, inclusions — so price comparisons are fair.
Practical approach
Combine automated matching with confidence scores and a manual review queue for uncertain matches. Wrong mappings are worse than duplicates: they can sell the wrong hotel.
