What is a travel consolidator?

A travel consolidator is a wholesaler that negotiates bulk or net fares with airlines and resells them to travel agencies, usually with ticketing and support services included.

Consolidators give smaller agencies access to negotiated fares, credit and ticketing authority they could not obtain on their own. Many also provide technology: a booking portal or an API that exposes their fares alongside published content.

For platform builders

Consolidator feeds are a common source in travel API aggregation. They often come with their own markups, commission rules and servicing processes, so the platform needs per-source pricing and settlement logic rather than one global rule set.
